Room to Dream
Andrea Burgay
Room to Dream, 2025
Archival pigment print (from paper collage original)
Black painted paper, glued paper torn apart which revealed a flower-like residual form, and a photograph of yellow flowers taken by my high-school friend in the late 1990s come together in this piece. A thread of ongoing experimentation from its humble beginnings in the suburbs of my own childhood to my current explorations of collage and paper. Room to Dream is stolen from the title of a biography of filmmaker David Lynch. It evokes both the physical spaces he maintained as sanctuaries for solitude and imagination, as well as the inner space to dream—an idea also reminiscent of Virginia Wolff ’s A Rome of One’s Own. A reminder to nurture these places, both mental and physical for ourselves.”

At 310gsm with a slightly warm base tone, this robust cotton paper has a handmade, crafted quality. The textured surface catches light beautifully, giving each piece genuine gallery presence. With 11-colour ultra-wide gamut inks, these prints are built to last—archival rated for 80 years.
